Lentil variant

Black lentils, with their low fat content and high nutritional value, contribute to a healthy diet, but you can also choose green lentils. Lentils do not take long to cook, are easy to prepare, and are versatile, making them an ideal food as part of a balanced diet.

Ingredients

1 package black or green lentils
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

1. Step

Wash the lentils thoroughly. In a pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat, then sauté the onion and garlic in it until translucent.

2. Step

Add the lentils, cumin, caraway, and turmeric. Mix well. Add water (about 2–3 cups) and cook until the lentils are tender (about 20–25 minutes).

3. Step

Season with salt and pepper to taste. Blend or mash the lentils until smooth. Serve topped with fresh cilantro or parsley.
