Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant that is essential for the health of the skin and hair. Furthermore, it is capable of absorbing a portion of ultraviolet (UV) radiation. It plays an important role in the photoprotection of the skin, prevents the formation of free radicals, and provides protection against the harmful effects of the environment. In addition, it also performs an anti-inflammatory role in protecting the skin.
Vitamin E is the most common lipophilic antioxidant found in human skin. This level decreases in the epidermis with age, which is why it is important to replenish it both internally and externally.
Sources of Vitamin E used in production: sunflower, wheat germ, pumpkin seed, olive, safflower, and corn oil, other cereal germs, and almonds.
