Eyebright - Euphrasiae herba

Eyebright has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. It is recommended for washing and compressing the eyes in case of various inflammatory or infectious eye diseases.

When consumed internally, its tea is also an effective remedy for stomach and intestinal complaints. Eyebright is also used in folk medicine against coughs.

Preparation: Pour 2.5 dl of boiling water over 2 teaspoons of eyebright and let it steep for 10 minutes. Then strain and let it cool.

Application:

As a compress for styes and conjunctivitis: Soak two cotton pads or sterile gauze pads in the infusion and place them on your closed eyelids. Repeat the process two to three times a day.

For bloating and digestive problems internally: Consume eyebright tea lukewarm, 2-3 cups a day before meals. Eyebright eliminates intestinal stasis and the associated bloating. You can also use this herb in case of hyperacidity and upset stomach.
