5 simple Christmas tips
Sometimes the simple things in life are the best - a hot bubble bath, a good book, a good movie, cooking your favorite meal, listening to music, or simply walking the dog. Simple is good. And the good news is that this also applies to Christmas!
Instead of the glitz, frantic gift shopping, organizing meals, and cooking, let’s choose a calmer and slower version of Christmas. One where you can truly breathe in and experience every magical moment, without the stress of what to cross off your list next.
Does the idea of a simpler Christmas sound appealing? Here are some Christmas tips to make the holiday season simpler, yet just as enjoyable.
Christmas tips for an enjoyable holiday:
1. Plan your time wisely
Don’t commit to everything; choose what you say yes to and prioritize time with the people who mean the most to you. And don’t fall into the trap of not booking valuable "me-time" or rest, which can happen very easily. Pamper yourself, but take care of yourself too.
2. Enjoy the simple things
Find joy in the simplest and smallest things, because as we said at the beginning, sometimes these can be the most enjoyable. Setting up and decorating the tree, wrapping gifts, making Christmas pudding or homemade cookies, or writing Christmas cards—these are all heartwarming things.

3. Simple but great: handmade gifts
Simple gifts don’t have to be boring. If anything, these gifts usually mean more as they are more original and thoughtful. Handmade gifts, such as a jar of jam or honey, or a batch of cookies in a specific flavor, a framed photo, or a hand-knitted scarf, gloves, or hat. Or a pamper basket filled with the favorite products of the person you are buying for.
What are some good handmade Christmas gifts?
Pamper baskets aren’t the only DIY gifts you can give at Christmas. These include:
- Beauty gift sets
- Christmas chocolates
- Essential oil candles, serums, and more
- Natural deodorant
- Bath bombs
Plus paper flowers, homemade snow globes from jam jars, Christmas tea towels, hand-painted plant pots, homemade soap, fabric-covered journals, and much more. The more personal and creative, the better!

4. Make the most of what you have
Why go through the trouble and expense of buying lots of new things when you can easily make or repurpose what you already have hidden away? We are thinking of making your own Christmas cards, decorations, gift tags, wrapping paper, and cookies, which are really fun to make and much kinder to the planet than buying them.
5. Schedule some valuable downtime
We alluded to this point at the beginning. And just because it happens to be towards the end of the list of ideas, doesn’t mean it’s less important than the points already mentioned. When you have a million and one different things to think about at Christmas, it can be easy to overlook the importance of giving yourself a break occasionally.
Practice mindfulness, run a bath, make a delicious hot chocolate, go for a walk without your phone—these things can all be incredibly beneficial in both the short and long term.
With that note, we hope you have a wonderful Christmas, and remember that spending time simply and peacefully can also set the mood!
