Részletes termékleírás
Rice is an ancient and popular staple food, serving as the main food source for more than half of humanity. Basmati rice began to be cultivated at the foot of the Himalayas thousands of years ago.
Basmati rice has longer grains than other rice varieties and develops a pleasant, slightly nutty aroma when cooked. The grains do not stick together.
Basmati rice is available in both white and brown varieties. Brown rice differs from white rice in that, during hulling, a layer rich in fiber and valuable nutrients is left intact.
Significance and effects: Basmati brown rice has a lower glycemic index than other types of rice, which means that its carbohydrates are absorbed more slowly and raise blood sugar levels more gradually. For this reason, people with diabetes, insulin resistance, or those wishing to lose weight are advised to replace white rice with this variety.
Brown rice has a higher protein content than the white variety and also contains more fat. It contains significant amounts of B vitamins (except B12), manganese, phosphorus, and iron, while being low in sodium.
Use: Rinse thoroughly before cooking. Cook in twice the amount of water for approximately 25–30 minutes. It can be served as a side dish, prepared as porridge or risotto, and used in salads, stuffed or layered dishes, and soups. It is also a suitable ingredient for making desserts.
