Detailed product description
Fennel - Foeniculi dulcis fructus
The active ingredient of fennel is its essential oil with a characteristic aroma and taste, which is found mainly in its ripe seeds. It has digestive-stimulating, antispasmodic, stomach-strengthening, carminative, expectorant, and galactagogue (milk-producing) effects. It improves digestion and nutrient absorption, and stimulates the secretion of mucus in the bronchial tubes of the lungs.
It is also used in pediatrics as a carminative and to relieve intestinal cramps. It can also be given to infants with colic.
It is also effective against digestive disorders and bloating when consumed before meals. It is also known as an anthelmintic (worm-expelling) medicinal herb.
It promotes milk production during breastfeeding. Its essential oil passes into the milk, so the baby also receives it through the mother's milk.
Preparation:
For children with colic: 1 tablespoon of fennel seeds should be added to 1 cup of boiling milk and boiled for 5-10 minutes. It can be consumed strained and lukewarm.
Tea: Add 1 tablespoon of fennel to 2 dl of boiling water, then boil for 5-10 minutes. After this, it can be consumed strained. To improve digestion and against bloating, it should be drunk in small sips half an hour before meals, without flavoring. For coughs and colds, it can be consumed lukewarm with honey. You can drink up to 3-4 cups a day.
