Significance and effects:
Inulin is a plant fiber that cannot be broken down by human digestive enzymes, so it reaches the colon unchanged, where it serves as food for beneficial gut bacteria. As the bacteria break down the inulin, gases are released, which may cause bloating. Therefore, to prevent unpleasant symptoms, gradually allow your body to get used to it.
Directions for use:
The recommended daily amount is 5–10 grams (approximately 1–2 level teaspoons). It can be mixed into soft drinks or smoothies, or added to baked goods and cakes.
