Corn silk - Maydis stigma
Corn silk is proven to lower blood sugar levels, which is why it is recommended as a complementary therapy for those suffering from diabetes.
It is also effective for urinary tract infections, especially cystitis accompanied by inflammation. Due to its diuretic properties, it helps flush out the kidneys and bladder, assisting in washing out the pathogens causing the infection.
Preparation: Add 1 tablespoon of dried corn silk to 2 dl of boiling water and boil for 5 minutes. After straining, it can be consumed 3 times a day, sipping 1 cup at a time.
For a stronger diuretic effect, a more concentrated brew can be made by adding double the amount of corn silk to 2 dl of water. (The stronger brew is not recommended for heart patients!)
Patients prone to developing kidney stones can consume it regularly.
