Detailed product description
Alder buckthorn bark - Frangulae cortex
Alder buckthorn bark is an excellent laxative that acts primarily on the bowels. It is a constant ingredient in intestinal cleansing and weight-loss teas. It is also used as a febrifuge, anthelmintic, and for liver, gallbladder, and spleen disorders, constipation, dropsy, and hemorrhoids. Due to its strong laxative effect, it is only recommended for occasional use; consuming it as a cure or for a longer period of time should only be done upon medical advice and as prescribed by a specialist.
Preparation: Pour 2 dl of boiling water over 0.5-1 teaspoon (approx. 2 g) of chopped bark, let it stand for 15 minutes, then strain. Another way to prepare it is by soaking it in cold water for 12 hours instead of boiling. (Tea prepared by soaking has a less drastic effect.) Its laxative effect occurs only 6-8 hours after consumption, so it is worth drinking it before bedtime, which will result in bowel movement in the morning. The daily dose is 1 cup consumed before bedtime.
Attention! Prolonged use, as well as use by children under 12, during pregnancy, and while breastfeeding is contraindicated.
