Detailed product description
Flaxseed has been cultivated and consumed for millennia, not only for food but also for medicinal purposes. Flaxseeds have been found in Egyptian pyramids alongside corpses, likely left as provisions for the dead to give them energy to cross into the afterlife. Hippocrates also mentions its beneficial effects, and Charlemagne made its consumption mandatory for the health of his people.
Flaxseed has a high fat content, primarily consisting of essential omega-3 fatty acids. Of these, alpha-linolenic acid is particularly notable, as it may help prevent atherosclerosis, has anti-inflammatory properties, and can support brain function. Regular consumption is especially recommended for those who do not eat fish and wish to supplement omega-3 fatty acids naturally.
The fiber content of flaxseed is also quite significant. It contains both water-soluble and insoluble dietary fibers, which contribute to healthy digestion in different ways. However, be sure to consume plenty of fluids with it. Do not forget that the body can only utilize the nutrients in flaxseed if the seeds are chewed or ground; otherwise, they simply pass through the digestive system as "roughage" – although they can still be an effective aid for constipation. Usage: We usually think of flaxseed as a garnish used to sprinkle on homemade breads and pastries, but it can also be mixed into breading.
It can be consumed on its own, either whole or ground. The recommended daily amount is 1-2 teaspoons, which should be consumed with at least 1 glass of water. You can also mix it into your oatmeal, plant-based yogurt, or use it to enrich your salad dressing.
