Valerian - Valerianae radix

Valerian has long been used as a medicinal herb in folk medicine. It is primarily used as a natural sedative. In addition, it promotes calm and deep sleep, which is why it is also recommended for sleep disorders. It calms the heart and the nervous system, and also relieves nervous stomach complaints.

Preparation: Add 1-2 teaspoons of chopped valerian root to 3 dl of simmering water, boil for 2-3 minutes, then cover and let stand for 8-10 minutes. Once strained, it can be consumed 2-3 cups daily. For sleep disorders, drink the last cup of valerian tea in small sips one hour before bedtime.
