Detailed product description
What is worth knowing about milk thistle seed oils?
The healing effect of milk thistle seeds on the liver is well-known; however, it is important to know that the main active ingredients are not fat-soluble. Therefore, milk thistle seed oil contains these key active ingredients (silymarin/silybin) in much lower concentrations than, for example, an alcoholic or acetone extract.
What is milk thistle good for and what are its active ingredients?
Milk thistle supports bile and liver function, can lower cholesterol levels, and also participates in the regeneration of liver cells. In addition, its main active ingredient is attributed with powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant, immunomodulatory, and cancer-preventive effects. Most people know silymarin as the main active ingredient of milk thistle. It is less well-known that silymarin is not a single active ingredient, but a flavonolignan complex (comprising 13 different types of flavonolignans), of which the main active component regarding the liver is silybin (a mixture of silybin A and silybin B).
The concentration of silymarin or flavonolignan complex in milk thistle can vary across an extremely wide range. It can be influenced by soil quality, the amount of precipitation, as well as geographical, climatic, and agricultural factors. In the latter case, it is a significant factor, for example, when the seeds were sown, when they were irrigated, and at which developmental stage of the plant the harvest took place. It has been observed that the concentration of silybin changes during different developmental stages; for example, decreased values were identified in plants harvested during flowering. Due to the need to eliminate the effect of these variables, it is advisable in all cases to choose a product that contains silymarin and silybin as a standardized extract.
Active ingredient:
Silybin A and B (from milk thistle seed extract) 26.2 mg
Other silymarins (from milk thistle seed extract) 16.8 mg
Ingredients: purified water, organic glycerin, milk thistle seed extract, glyceryl/citrate/lactate/linoleate/oleate, lecithin, ethyl alcohol, milk thistle seed oil, mixed tocopherols, xanthan gum, lysine amino acid, citric acid.
Dosage: Recommended amount: 3 pumps of liquid daily, sprayed under the tongue. Hold it under your tongue for 30 seconds! If possible, take it half an hour before your first main meal; if you have a sensitive digestive system, take it with or after a meal. In all cases, the pump must be pressed down with a firm motion! Shake before use! Milk thistle is a herb with a slightly estrogenic effect, which is why we recommend using it adjusted to the female cycle - in the first half of the cycle, from the first day of menstruation until ovulation (approx. 14–16th day of the cycle).
Warning: Consuming this dietary supplement does not replace a balanced, varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the recommended daily amount. Keep the product out of the reach of children, in a dry, cool, dark place. Consumption is not recommended during lactation and pregnancy. If you are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the product ingredients, do not use the product! Before using liquid-based dietary supplements, it is worth performing a skin test to rule out sensitivity to the ingredients. The area behind the ear is excellent for this because the skin there is very thin and sensitive. It is highly recommended to separate the intake of dietary supplements from coffee consumption. It is advisable to take them at least half an hour before or at least 2 hours after drinking coffee. Taking dietary supplements with dairy-based products is not recommended! If you are taking multiple dietary supplements, consult a specialist about the order in which you should take them to avoid potential neutralizing effects between the active ingredients. Its use is recommended as a course of treatment unless your doctor or naturopath has advised otherwise.
