Detailed product description
Mustard is a plant with a very strong aroma, cultivated from wild mustard native to the Mediterranean region. The seeds are yellowish-brown and round. They are widely used as a spice, but the seeds are also suitable for sprouting.
Significance and effects: Mustard seeds are high in fat, but they also contain significant amounts of carbohydrates and protein. They contain considerable amounts of nitrogen- and sulfur-containing compounds, to which they owe their distinctive, very strong aroma. These substances have a stimulating effect, increasing appetite, the secretion of digestive juices, and intestinal movement. Consequently, they help combat reduced appetite, constipation, and digestive complaints. However, their consumption is not recommended for people with sensitive digestive systems.
Use: Mustard seeds can be ground and used as a spice, or sprouted and their few-day-old shoots can be eaten with salad, as part of a side dish, or piled onto a sandwich.
