White horehound - Marubii i herba

It has choleretic and antibiotic effects. White horehound is a bitter tonic used for loss of appetite or minor digestive disorders. It is also used to treat persistent coughs and respiratory inflammation. The flowering tops are recommended as a choleretic for bile secretion disorders. Externally, horehound is suitable for treating ulcers, purulent or slow-healing wounds. The plant's flowering tops have an expectorant effect and stimulate the liquefaction of bronchial secretions. It has an anti-inflammatory effect in the respiratory tract and alleviates symptoms of bronchitis. Marrubic acid also promotes bile secretion.

Preparation: Pour 2.5 dl of boiling water over 1 heaping teaspoon of horehound, let it steep for 5-10 minutes, then strain before consuming. Two cups per day are recommended. For respiratory complaints, it can be sweetened with honey, but do not sweeten it for digestive complaints.
