Detailed product description
Common Sage - Salviae officinalis folium
Sage is primarily known and used as a culinary herb, yet it is rich in numerous beneficial active ingredients. In folk medicine, it is mainly given for sore throats and purulent tonsillitis, both for internal consumption and as a throat gargle.
Sage has excellent anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Since long-term consumption can lead to stomach complaints, it is more frequently used as a mouthwash, sitz bath, or topical cleanser, and its tea is only used internally for short periods and in small quantities.
Which ailments can sage help with?
- gingivitis - mouthwash
- bleeding gums - mouthwash
- oral wounds - mouthwash
- tartar (prevention and removal of existing tartar) - crush the leaves and place them on a toothbrush to scrub the teeth; effective with regular daily use.
- hemorrhoids - topical wash, sitz bath
- wounds, ulcers - topical wash, compress
- excessive sweating - topical wash, deodorant
- sore throat, purulent tonsillitis - gargle, internal consumption
- digestive problems, bloating - internal consumption
Preparation: Pour 2 dl of boiling water over one teaspoon of sage leaves, then strain after letting it steep for 10 minutes. It is recommended to consume 2-3 cups per day. Once cooled, it can also be used as a gargle solution to treat inflammation of the mouth, gums, and throat mucosa.
For digestive issues and stomach complaints, prepare tea from 1 teaspoon of sage leaves as described above, and drink it three times a day, fifteen minutes before meals. It can remedy digestive complaints associated with a feeling of fullness.
Attention! Consumption is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women, those with low blood pressure, and children under 2 years of age!
