Detailed product description
Wasabi is that spicy and pungent green paste that gives a distinctive, sharp flavor to sushi dishes, dressings, and dips. The wasabi plant, sometimes referred to as Japanese horseradish, has long been used in Japan as an essential condiment served with sushi, soba, and tofu, and more recently to flavor dressings, sauces, and snacks.
Wasabi is a member of the Brassicaceae family, which also includes cabbages, horseradish, and mustard. To produce wasabi spice, the stem is used, not the root. It has been cultivated in Japan since the 16th century and grows in the wild along shaded riverbeds in Japanese mountain valleys. It takes two years to mature and is highly perishable.
