Three easy-to-make Christmas recipes

These simple yet delicious Christmas treats are easy to prepare, and your family and friends will be begging for the recipes.

Healthy hot chocolate

It might be hard to believe, but this simple hot chocolate recipe is packed with healthy fats, which makes your favorite Christmas treat a little less guilt-inducing.

- 300 ml almond milk

- 2 tsp raw cocoa

- 1 or 2 tbsp honey, depending on how sweet you like it.

- 1 tsp almond butter

- ½ tsp ground cinnamon

Gently heat all the ingredients in a saucepan over low heat, stirring to ensure everything is well combined. Once hot, pour into your favorite mug, sprinkle with ground cinnamon, and enjoy. It goes perfectly with slippers, a fireplace, and your favorite Christmas movie.

Cranberry and red wine chutney

Not much can beat the combination of cranberry and turkey, so try this excellent chutney. The red wine and berries together provide a rich flavor. If you wish, double or triple the recipe, and the chutney makes a great Christmas gift for family and friends.

- 300 g caster sugar

- 250 ml red wine (dry is best)

- 350 g fresh cranberries

- 1 cinnamon stick

- 2 tbsp orange zest strips

First, pour the red wine and sugar into a medium saucepan, bring to a boil over medium heat, then add the cranberries, cinnamon stick, and orange zest. Make sure to bring the mixture back to a boil, then reduce the heat and cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently. When most of the cranberries have burst, remove the chutney from the heat and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Spoon the chutney into sterilized jars of your choice – jam jars or small preserve jars work well. Put it in the fridge overnight, and you will have a delicious chutney to enjoy at Christmas.

Spiced almonds

If you're preparing for a Christmas party and want something easy to make but with an amazing taste, these spiced almonds will do the trick.

- 500 g raw whole almonds

- 90 g light brown sugar

- 2 tsp ground cumin

- 1 tsp hot paprika

- 1 tsp dried thyme

- 1 tsp salt

- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper

- 1 large egg white

- 1 tbsp water

Preheat the oven to 140°C/gas mark 1, then add all the spices to a large bowl and mix thoroughly. In another medium bowl, whisk the egg white and water until frothy, then add the almonds, making sure the egg mixture coats the almonds well. Pass the almonds through a sieve to drain off the excess mixture, then add them to the bowl filled with spices and coat well. Take a large baking sheet and spray it with a little cooking oil. Spread the almonds evenly on the tray and bake for 30 minutes. Stir the almonds, then reduce the heat to 120°C/gas mark 1 and bake for another 30 minutes until dry and golden. Let cool for 20 minutes before serving, then dive in.
